NEWS STORY: Hokies Announce 2024-2025 Season Schedule

BLACKSBURG, V.A. - On Saturday, the Virginia Tech Men's Ice Hockey program kicked off its 39th season as the team announced its 2024-25 season schedule.

The Hokies will lace up their skates for the first time on the weekend of September 13, 2024, when they travel up north for preseason action against George Mason and James Madison. After a week break, the team returns home to the Lancerlot Arena for opening weekend on September 27, as they welcome UNC-Charlotte for two nights.

From there, the Hokies will play two consecutive away weekend series as they venture to Maryland to take on Stevenson, then the week after to the heart of New Jersey for an ACCHL matchup against the Rider Broncos.

After the road trip, the team stays in Blacksburg for the rest of October as they host rival West Virginia and ACCHL foe Maryland for two games each at the 'lot. The first weekend of November then presents itself with the annual ACCHL Showcase in Springfield, VA at The St. James. Last season the Hokies took two out of three games against ACCHL competition, which proved timely when seeded last year in the playoffs. Only one (Delaware) out of the three-weekend opponents has been confirmed.

The fall semester finishes off with four more games, a home-and-home matchup with Wake Forest, and two games at home against Denison, a program the Hokies have never faced in their 39 seasons as a program.

2025 starts with a bang for the Hokies as on January 4, 2025, they head outdoors for the first time in program history against North Carolina. This will mark the first of three consecutive meetings between the two squads as nearly a week after Charlotte, the team will play the Tar Heels in a crucial two-game ACCHL divisional matchup.

The Hokies conclude their ACCHL schedule with a weekend home series against UNC-Wilmington and a crucial home-and-home series against NC State to conclude league play. On January 31, the team will finish the regular season with Senior Night at home against James Madison.

From there, the Hokies will head down to Winston-Salem for the ACCHL playoff tournament, as they look to redeem themselves after two consecutive first-round exits.
